Rule 2206. Multiple Rostering (Rev. 09.05) (Rev. 02.24) (Rev. 07.24)

NYSWYSA permits multiple rostering of a player to more than one club during a season in accordance with US Youth Soccer Rule 206. A player shall not be rostered with a club without registration consent from the player’s family. Participation with multiple clubs is at the discretion of the player and it is the player’s responsibility to communicate this information to both clubs/teams.

Although NYSWYSA allows multiple rostering, no player is permitted to be rostered with more than TWO (2) clubs at any one time during the seasonal year. The first club to roster a player will default as the Primary Club and the second club to roster a player will default as the Secondary Club. This designation will be reflected on the official NYSWYSA Competitive Card & Roster or NYSWYSA Recreational Roster for that season. If a player is participating with more than one team within a club, the player will be designated as a “Club Pass” player on all additional rosters. If a player prefers to have a different club listed as their Primary Club, the player must complete the NYSWYSA Club Designation Change Form. Once the form is completed with all signatures, it should be sent via email to registrar@nyswysa.org to be updated within GotSport. This form is only required to be completed if a change to the club designation is requested.

Leagues and tournaments may have further restrictions on multiple rostering. Each league has the autonomy to permit or not permit the use of secondary or club pass players within that league. It is incumbent upon the club to verify that they comply with any such restrictions. The most common restriction is to require that all team members be registered as primary players. Clubs should determine from all tournament hosts if their multiple rostered players are eligible to participate before submitting the tournament application.

Prescribed roster limits on the number of players will be observed.  See NYSWYSA Rule 2205 in regard to specifics regarding roster limits.

US Youth Soccer Rule 205, Number 2 states, "No team shall be allowed to have less than seven (7) [understood to mean primary] players on its roster at any given time during the seasonal year." Therefore, a team of 22 players can have a maximum of fifteen (15) secondary players on the roster.
